Hi I’m John

I don’t consider myself an author. At least not in the traditional sense.

I’m just an imperfect human trying to live a happy, joyous, and free life — and to be kind and helpful to others… or at least not stand in the way of their pursuit of the same.

It wasn’t always like this.

Until about 15 years ago, my life was driven by WIIFM — what’s in it for me.
I was the smartest, most insightful person in any room. I had an answer for everything. And if you disagreed, I’d be happy to explain why you were wrong.

I thought I was the GM of the Universe.
What I actually was — a fearful narcissist with a giant ego and low self-esteem.

I didn’t have the basic tools to live like a regular person.
Family, friends, work relationships — all lost or badly strained.

Eventually, I was pressured (and lucky enough) to accept the help of others. And I became a humble human living among other humans.
That’s when I realized I wasn’t alone — not in my pain, not in my fear, and not in my resistance to asking for help.

What worked for me wasn’t being told what to do. It was hearing someone share their experience and what they learned.

That’s how the Daily Ponder was born.

I started paying closer attention to quotes, clichés, and throwaway lines — the kind of things we hear so often, we forget they came from somewhere true.

So, one quote. One reflection. Every day. For 8 years.
Some mornings I wrote from peace. Others, from pain.
But always with the hope that someone else might see a bit of themselves in the mess… or the meaning.

This is not a self-help book. It won’t tell you how to live, what to believe, or why you’re doing it wrong.
You wouldn’t hear that anyway. I know I wouldn’t.

It’s a collection of reflections on fear, ego, forgiveness, truth.
Each paired with a quote that cracked something open in me.

It’s not a guide. It’s a mirror.
Not a sermon. A suggestion.
Not perfect. But real.

It’s not for you… unless you want it to be.

I called it Daily Ponder.
You might call it something different.

But if you’ve ever needed to stop and take a breath — it’s here.
